Engineer

Choral Singing, being Grandpa.

Lots of good memories. AP classes (memorable!), Choir, Swim Team (even though I was one of the worst swimmers on the team).

I’ve had a great life! I have a BS in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Tech and an MS in Chemical Engineering from New Mexico State. Worked in software industry in Texas and for Navy in Indiana before joining Ford in 1996.

I am presently the Technical Expert for Battery Controls & Safety at Ford, and in that role I presently lead the research group for battery controls for hybrid and electric vehicles in Ford Research & Advanced Engineering. As of this writing, I have 11 US patents (and counting), as well as Chinese and German patents. I have received a number of awards and honors, including:

• 2016 Controls System Technology Award from IEEE Controls Society
• Michigan Tech Distinguished Academy of Chemical Engineering
• Who’s Who in America
• Henry Ford Technology Award, Ford’s highest technical award

I have been fortunate to meet many well known people, possibly the most interesting was Dr. Clyde Tombaugh, the discoverer of Pluto. I have been an active choral singer over the years, highlights include singing with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I have also been active in my church (where I met my wife!).
